OH HOW FAR WE'VE COME.

Although farewell's still a week off, I figured it's about time I published this post, in true tradition:

-No more Victor.

-No more prefect's life.

-No more wearing blazers on Mondays.

-No more getting the Room key from Jun Shern on Mondays only to find Brendan opening the Room mere moments after.

-No more Noca Mera with Kai Yuan

-No more coming to school and beating the 7.10 a.m deadline.

-No more reaching school on Friday, looking at people passing up their reports and feeling that deep dread in my stomach.

-No more placing bags at the last rows of Li Ching's Canteen.

-No more Li Ching's Canteen.

-No more reprimanding the Form Threes Prefects even though we were secretly insanely proud of all of them.

-No more following Sam and Susan to the office to ask the ever-prevalent question of "Is there assembly today?"

-No more Collaborative Facepalming with Susan.

-No more "Errmm... Ummm.." 's from Sam

-No more eerily creepy laughter from Susan.

-No more quiet blurness Callie.

-No more "D'arvit" from Jun Shern.

-No more "MY CANTEEN!" from Li Ching.( Oh and who can forget driving with the door open? :P)

-No more "KOK HAO ZHE!" from Soo Ann.

-No more pulling off last minutes stunts with Brendan.

-No more "HI HAO ZEEEEE!" from Sher.

-No more coming out 10 minutes early for break and lunch.

-No more NOT coming out for break and lunch at all cause of "important" classes.

-No more "So what if we're not hot? We're fresh!"

-No more "Walao they sell chicken like they sell daughters."

-In short, no more Victor Quotes.

-Oh yeah, no more Outstanding Victor.

-No more screening.

-No more feeling good about no more stairs.

-No more meetings, board meetings, principal meetings, Post-Mortem Sessions, and on one occasion, a disastrous Board-Principal Meeting.

-No more class duty during rain.

-No more convincing reluctant n'er-do-wells to pay up their fines.

-No more announcements on Fridays, alternate Tuesdays, and on one occasion, a disastrous Monday.

-No more repeating to juniors that I'm supposed to do announcements on Fridays, alternate Tuesdays, and on one occasion, a disastrous Monday.

-No more juniors.

-No more Jerr Weann with her insanely unintuitive-name-pronunciation (I kid.)

-No more Sheen-Le with her frequent stress out sessions. (You don't have to.)

-No more Jia Cherng being known as SJ1.

-No more Brandon and the various celebrity heights. As well as finding in-the-closet Form Two's with their pants down.

-No more Ing Shaun and my Dragon-Dog.

-No more Edward and the feeling of shortness.

-No more Shin Wei, the profound discussions, as well as the re-evaluation of myself.

-No more Melissa, with the Counter Strike-esque roaming of the block..

-No more feeling insanely proud of each and every one of my juniors, and hoping that they would put in as much passion as their potential entails.

-No more bouncing at the concierge during my birthday.

-No more surprising Li Ching after exams during her birthday.

-No more telling Soo Ann that we were throwing a surprise party for Susan and Brendan but instead got her to surprise herself two weeks after her birthday.

-No more going from Climb Every Mountain to the Birthday Song during Brendan's birthday.

-No more "emergency board meetings" during Susan's birthday.

-No more prefect-staring he school down on top of the podium.

-No more talking bout Thunder Stick with Eric. (As well as the Silver Bird jokes.)

-No more telling stories at meetings.

-No more interviews.

-No more carrying chairs for assembly. 9 per stack.

-No more looking for who's doing ikrar and flag.

-No more burning morning exercise songs into a CD and never using it.

-No more feeling sheepish under Mdm Noor's stare.

-No more wise words from Mr Naresh.

-No more soft-spoken speeches of inspiration from Mr Rahim.

-No more feeling a little amused whenever Mdm Rafidah dozes off during meeting.

-No more Victor.

-No more prefect life.

I'm sure there are much much more than this. Farewell's right around the corner, and even though I probably won't cry (hint: maybe I can't.), I'd feel it where it counts. It's all ending, and all I can hope is that what I've done would've meant something to at least one person.

In a way, I'm looking forward to passing on the torch. Not that I'm anticipating it with bated breath, but to me, it marks an end of my era, and the beginning of another's. I guess I finally know how my seniors used to feel, the way they wanted the best for me, a good foundation, and I sincerely hope I have provided the same, if not more than, my seniors before me.

The plan now is for two more blog post over the next week, one for my juniors, and to all the juniors in general, and finally one more to my family within the family: The Board of 2010/2011.

To all prefects and juniors who happen to read this somehow, my only advice now is what you'll see soon:

Cherish the people with whom you share your successes, your defeats, your trials, your errors, your joys, and your sorrows.

Because these are the people we will never

Lupus? It's Never Lupus

Before the mid year exams I told myself lots of things:

1.Go get a new book.
2.Watch a new show.
3.Go out for basketball every day.
4.Practice violin every day. (BLASPHEMY!)

By Saturday of the first week I have completed neither.

1.Books are too expensive.
2.My House downloads are ridiculously slow.
3.Everyday it's 7.00 p.m before I know it.
4.Please.

But then thanks to Denz's UniFi (reaching up to 550 kbps)(I KNOW!), I have set out to right one of those wrongs.

It DID set me thinking though.

Maybe we can all stand to learn a lot from Dr.Gregory House, MD. His tortured past and drug abusive nature, while in most would cause severe psychological trauma, has, in his case, made him.. well actually it had done exactly just that.

In a good way.

Anyways his detached nature while dealing with patients often proves to be an asset as sometimes we do have to step back from our attachment to see the big picture.

Don't believe me?

Dr.Lisa Cuddy: I know you hate him, but I can't fire him. That son of a bitch is the best doctor we've got.

(And nobody can argue with Dr.Cuddy.)

Also, his humanity does shine through from time to time to keep us all connected. I assume there are gonna be more developments to that end.

(And it doesn't hurt that Hugh Laurie is a MAGNIFICENT actor. Come on, hands up who knew he was British before you stubble-obsessed, cane-fetish-ers went and Wikipedia'd him? No one? Well then I rest my case.)

I'm still at Season One and already House has warranted an entire blog post talking about it. (Well frankly, it doesn't mean much when one is talking about MY blog, but still.)

Oh I'm just rambling, so if you guys want to take anything back at all from this blog post, I would hope that it's this :

But we still choose it.

Musings of A Deranged Mind

Forgive me for this post. It's one of those times when you know you wanna blog, but you don't know what to blog ABOUT. Kinda like one of those essays which you have bits and pieces of in your head, but you don't really know how to fit them all in one cohesive... thing.

Which sums up a fitting beginning to this post, in which i shall just list out various things that are on my mind.

-I kinda figured out lately why people have funerals, and why I don't cry during funerals. Some might call me heartless, but I think that a lot of people genuinely cry because of themselves. Think about it: you're not doing the deceased a favour; you're just weeping for yourself, of the time you won't get to spend with the person, and things the person won't get to tell you, etc. It's not as if they aren't in a better place. Sometimes I feel we should just stop grieving death and celebrate life.

-I miss not being watched 24/7. I hate the feeling of everyone paying special attention on me and waiting to exaggerate every little mistake I might do.

-I also miss having friends nearby whom I can call on a whim and talk about anything under the sun.

-I'm also terribly excited/terrified/unfazed about SAT's. I half expect myself to either forget to sign up on time, or chicken out entirely. Considering my entire future is on the line, I'm also surprised at my lack of nervousness and care to make things perfect in this case.

-On that note, I'm still indecisive of what field I'm planning to go into. I really want to have a clear idea when I leave school, but parents'/everyone else's expectations keeps getting in the way of what I really wanna do, which is, of course, taking over the world.

-I sometimes fail to see how people can put in so much effort on something, and not excel, while others may just dabble and succeed without trying.

-I miss memorizing the last words of famous people, example:
"Nuts" -The last words of General McAuliffe when the Germans demanded him to surrender at the Battle of The Bulge.

-I've recently gotten the urge to make all my electronic gadgets identifiable. My Nexus One is henceforth referred to as GLaDOS (Portal references FTW), and my iPod is now SHaMOS. I don't really have a name for my laptop yet, but expect it to be somewhere along those lines.

-On THAT note, check out the results of my latest gadget-pimping spree:

-Which brings me to my next point: I often wonder what it's like to frequently post pictures on your blog. I mean, these three alone were agonizing to upload.

-I really want an electric violin, which might motivate me to actually play the violin more.

-Then again, I wouldn't mind having new gadgets to play with.

-I sometimes think I'm a little too spoiled. Just a little.

-I think that I spend a lot of time thinking about how others feel, and too little time thinking about how I should feel. I think that's my one downfall, sometimes we look too much at others and when we look at ourselves, we don't know who we are anymore.

-Somehow related to that:

Maybe that's why I wrote this blog post, which I'm not even sure now I'll post. Because I've always told myself "I'll blog soon." And the hope of that future keeps me going, so much so that I use that future to escape the present, but I never end up reaching that future. Maybe making a spontaneous blog post means that I can finally take control of my own future, because imagining the future IS a kind of nostalgia.

The Mystery Cracked

Okay, this post has been a long time coming, but I guess it's time to finally have an intervention with myself....

....For myself :P

Basically I'm going to admit to the world, what my problem is with eye-contact interaction. As you may or may not be aware of, prior to maybe within this year, i almost NEVER make eye-contact when talking to people. I always try to look off to the distance behind you, or just stare at various part of my anatomy... (perverts stop reading here and proceed to next paragraph to avoid disappointment.).... usually my fingernails. :)

Okay, now to the story.

About 6 years ago, I was a lonely 11-year-old, partly because I couldn't speak Chinese for my life, despite being in a Chinese school, but mostly because through my eyes, everyone was so retarded. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love chasing after girls as much as the next guy, but actually running all out after them around the schoolyard, catching them and rolling (with them on top of you) on the grass? Seriously, learn some boundaries.

And then I pretty much just clammed up, and I found the best way to do it too.

"I spent my life faking the symptoms of post-traumatic stress to avoid facing everyone. I walked around staring into space, hoping that nobody would try to strike up a conversation. This tactic proved successful..."

So that was pretty much what became my life, a blur of superficial relationships, based on superficial friends. Few of them actually warranted much attention from me, with the said few actually still staying in contact with me till today, and before I knew it, 4 years have passed, and I found myself a Form Three guy, finally amongst worthy peers.

Now I wouldn't insult everyone by saying that I thought everyone had finally caught up, it's just that I finally saw people for what they really were.

"How treacherous a thing it is to think that a person is more than a person." - John Green. And this is precisely true. I now know what a person is, and isn't capable of. And so finally, painstakingly, I am getting rid of this age-old habit of mine.

I now know that life isn't about superficial holier-than-thou attitudes, and refusal to befriend another on the presumption that the person is not "worthy" of you, it's about realizing that all of us are not worthy of each other, and being thankful that despite that, we still are together.

And so this is me, being thankful that I have burned away that past, and now the future looks as bright as ever.

An excerpt from what is fast becoming my favorite book of all time. Please do try to read till the end, it's really worth it:

" Before I got here, I thought for a long time that the way out of the labyrinth was to pretend that it did not exist, to build a small, self-sufficient world in a back corner of the endless maze and to pretend that I was not lost, but home. But that only led to a life accompanied only by the words of the already-dead, so I came here looking for a Great Perhaps, for real friends and a more-than-minor life. And then I screwed up and the Colonel screwed up and Takumi screwed up and she slipped through our fingers. And there's not sugar-coating it: She deserved better friends.

When she *effed* up, all those years ago, just a little girl terrified into paralysis, she collapsed into the enigma of herself. and I could have done that, but I saw where it led for her. So i still believe in the Great Perhaps, and I believe in it in spite of having lost her.

Because I will forget her, yes. That which came together will fall apart imperceptibly slowly, and I will forget, but she will forgive my forgetting, just as I forgive her for forgetting me and the Colonel and everyone but herself and her mom during those last moments she spent as a person. I know now that she forgives me for being dumb and scared and doing the dumb and scared thing. I know she forgives me, just as her mother forgives her. And here's how I know:

I thought at first that she was just dead. Just darkness. Just a body being eaten by bugs. I thought about her a lot like that, as something's meal. What was her - green eyes, half a smirk, the soft curves of her legs - would soon be nothing, just the bones that I never saw. I thought about the slow process of becoming bone and then fossil and then coal that will, in millions years, be mined by humans of the future, and how they would heat their homes with her, and then she would be smoke billowing out of a smokestack, coating the atmosphere. I still think that, sometimes, think that maybe "the afterlife" is just something we made up to ease the pain of loss, to make our time in the labyrinth bearable. Maybe she was just matter, and matter just gets recycled.

But ultimately I do not believe that she was only matter. The rest of her must be recycled, too. I believe now that we are greater than the sum of our parts. If you take Alaska's genetic code and you add her life experiences and the relationships she had with people, and then you take the size and shape of her body, you do not get her. There is something else entirely. There is a part of her greater than the sum of her knowable parts. And that part has to go somewhere, because it cannot be destroyed.

Although no one will ever accuse me of being much of a science student, one thing I learned from science classes is that energy is never created and never destroyed. And if Alaska took her own life, that is the hope I wish I could have given her. Forgetting her mother, failing her mother and her friends and herself - those are awful things, but she did not need to fold into herself and self-destruct. Those awful things are survivable, because we are as indestructible as we believe ourselves to be. When adults say, "Teenagers think they are invincible" with that sly, stupid smile on their faces, the don't know how right they are. We need never to be hopeless, because we can never be irreparably broken. We think that we are invincible because we are. We cannot be born, and we cannot die. Like all energy, we can only change shapes and sizes and manifestations. They forget that when they get old. They get scared of losing and failing. But that part of us greater than the sum of our parts cannot begin and cannot end, and so it cannot fail.

So I know she forgives me, just as I forgive her. Thomas Edison's last words were: "It's very beautiful over there." I don't know where "there" is, but I believe it's somewhere, and I hope it's beautiful. "

Do You Love Me Enough To Let Me Go?

This post is dedicated to Denz, my bro Hao Yi, my parents and all the awesome people that have, and will, remember my birthday.

Before I got here, I was either a spirit floating around, or a-part-sperm-part-ovum entity. Choose your favorite description.

And then when was young, pampered and without a care in the world. Birthdays were of parties and presents and barbecue-steamboat combos.

And then school happened and then someone screwed up, and then that screw up became big, and then recession happened. And then birthdays were time of guilt when you feel angry at parents because they had the money to get your younger siblings laptops and cameras while you looked and nodded, knowing that as the eldest you ought to feel happy for them.

And I do, and did, but still, God didnt make us perfect, and one of my many flaws is that I want, and I want it NOW! So I felt bitter.

I spent countless days, lamenting about my supposedly ill-luck, and about countless blog post that I drafted but didnt post, all cursing and yelling at the unfairness of life.

Boy am I glad I didn't post those.

Because now, it took a brother, okay not one, but two to show me that I WAS blessed all along.

They both listened to my complaints and my whining and it took me that long to see. Thanks, you know who you are.

I spend a big part of the night before my birthday watching some of the old Vlogbrothers(who ironically arent the two brothers i mentioned) videos too, and I saw of the goodness it can come from just being awesome and devoting your time to helping those who don't even know when their birthdays are.

I also googled "worst birthdays" and found people worse off than I was. There was one girl, from Tehran, Iran, who celebrated her birthday amidst governmental chaos and here I was, complaining that I didn't get a big enough birthday cake, or that nobody remembered.

Because really, in life, all it takes is a little perspective, and thats the greatest present anyone can give you.

And even if I am one step towards death, I am one step further from not-caring about anything else, because only by compassion can love be activated, and if anyone deserves love, its the people I dedicated this post to.

Starting this week, you all can post topics for "lists" of 100 stuff i can do, for example " 100 Thing's You'll Do In Vegas", and I'll try to complete A HUNDRED OF THOSE LISTS, yes thats right a hundred, which is 100x100= 10000 random tidbits... By next year.

Everytime I get a new list topic, I'll edit it onto this post, so by the time it's like 1st of February 2011 or whatever, it'll hopefully be long. VERY LOOOOONGGGG! :D

Part two: New Blog Format!
After some thought on ways to revive my blog for 2010 (and hopefully reach a hundred posts by the end of the month :/) I've decided to install a "format" of sorts to my blog! Since I'm not allowed to use the computer on weekdays, I have split the weekend up into the following:

1.Friday!
On which day I may or may not post, depending on whether or not I would have time to blog after tuition and if we were going out for dinner that night.

2. Saturday!
On which day I will pick a challenge which (hopefully) would be left by YOU! The faithful *ahem* readers of this blog and try to complete it by the end of the next week. The following Saturday I will blog about the challenge, if I did managed to complete it and pick another one. In the event that I'm not able to complete the challenge by the end of the following week, I have to pick another challenge and complete that one, along with the previous one by the FOLLOWING week.

And if I don't complete those two by the following week, the first commenter on my cbox would get to punish me :D

Well hello people. Some of you may know what I mean by my title.. Then again most of you won't. So I'll start from the beginning.

Go back 2 posts from this one, and I talked about the Vlogbrothers. They're two brothers, John and Hank Green, who refrain from communicating through text-based media and make daily Vlogs to communicate. The stuff they talk about wil remind ppl of Kevjumba and co.

Anyways, about a few videos in since they started the project in 2007, John stumbled upon an arcade game in an airport called "Aerofighters". However the font made it look like it said "Nerdfighters". Vlogbrother fans all over the world took up this calling and started calling themselves Nerdfighters.

Here's John's definition of a Nerdfighter: " A Nerdfighter is just like any human, just that instead of being made out of tissue and blood and organs, a Nerdfighter is made up of 100% Awesome"

Yes. Call me a nerd. No, go as far as to call me a Nerdfighter :D I don't care.

Anyways, every year, the Vlogbrothers will put together the "YouTube Project 4 Awesome" in which Nerdfighters get together to make videos about their favourite charities and use similar thumbnails in their videos, and get them posted on the front page of YouTube. So for one day, instead of people going around looking at videos about... cleavage... for instance, they watch videos about charities, which are awesome.

This year however, there is a twist. DARPA, the experimental arm of the military, also the creators of the Internet (YAY INTERNET), has started a contest in which ten 8 ft diameter weather balloons are placed in 10 places all over the United States. These balloons are numbered and are guarded by DARPA officials so they will only stay in one place. Whoever who finds all 10 of these balloons and send in their coordinates to DARPA will win 40,000 Dollars. That $40,000. 40 freaking thousand freaking dollars. Freak.

Hank had the idea that we, as Nerdfighters, collaboratively organise search and confirm teams to try and look for these balloons. Considering that DARPA announced the project only 2 days before the competition, and we had little time to plan, we really outdid ourselves by developing strategies and plans to try and win 40 thousand dollars to give to the charity promoted in the best Project For Awesome 2009 Video.

However, we were against the best of the best. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) also assembled a team to try and find those balloons and according to their website, used "highly sophisticated computer algorithms" to try and sift through all the tips and information about the balloons. Because every team would try and throw others off the scent.

Yesterday at 11 p.m Malaysian time, in a hotel in Penang, with sucky wireless Internet connection, I managed to patch through to the Nerdfighters live chat website. Due to the fear that spies could come in to the chat, all of us were afraid of sharing info on the site and even the Vlogbrothers refused to tell us how many balloons we have found and where they were.

Feeling utterly useless all the way over here in Malaysia, an interesting message caught my eye : " Calling all in the U.S and abroad, if you can't search on ground and still wanna help, contact me ASAP". Intrigued, I contacted the person (who turned out to be a 20+ American girl) and had to prove that I was a legit Nerdfighter by answering a few questions that only real Nerdfighters knew the answers too. (Vain much?)

After being assured that I wasn't some random MIT spy, she sent me a link to this secure chat link on a website she runs. So on about 1 a.m MY time, we, along with about 10 others who wanna help but can't go searching on the ground, gathered in the chat room in some Harry Potter role-playing site. I felt like some covert agent lols.

Even though we weren't able to help by searching for he balloons, we managed to think up of ways to mess with the MIT team by using proxies and masking our I.P address and sending them fake leads to locations of balloons. But we still felt we were't doing enough.

And then CentiZen logged in. Centizen. He will forever be a legend to all of us who were there in that little chat room in the middle of nowhere (to speak figuratively).

Apparently Centizen was a Nerdfighter hacker and he managed to hack all the way through into the MIT balloon website servers. (According to him, it was pretty simple as the MIT guys made the website quickly and therefore didn't get to install much security measures.) Long story short, he managed to delete about a few hundred of their leads before they tracked him down and established contact with him. He sent us that chat log lols :

192.168.*.* Says: What, you mean like incorrectly patching an httpd server hole? Your supposed to use port 8080, not 8090.

73.54.1.* HAS SIGNED OFF "

192.168.* was Centizen while 73.54.1.* were the MIT guys. We totally laughed our asses off wei.

And then it was 3 a.m I had to sleep , but not before we decided to create a Nerdfighters website group, but we didn't wanna really tell the world we hacked MIT just yet, so we called ourselves:

"Those who Witnessed the THING that HAPPENED on that DAY."
 
the subtext : You know who you are. We all saw the THING happen. On that DAY that it happened. And it was AWESOME.

And indeed it was.

Well many of you probably won't think it was awesome but I guess you just had to be there, or be a social-outcast like me. :D

Well ,I'm disappointed to say that despite all our efforts, we lost to MIT. They won the 40 thousand dollars because more ppl supported them as they promised whoever who helped got a share of the reward. While we were doing it for charity, they gave it out to people who only want profit. 

Sometimes I lose faith in the human race.

However, Hank Green sent all of us an email, and in it, he said :

Of course, I had a short telephone conversation with one of the leaders of the MIT initiative and was gratified to hear that our misinformation campaign was a serious problem for them them throughout the day and greatly slowed their progress. So at least we dealt as good as we got. 

I'd like to think that our little group, gathered there in that little chatbox in the middle of nowhere, wanting to help, managed to put up a great fight with those MIT jerks and kicked them right where in hurts, in the nuts. :D

So thats the story of my Nerdfight-mania. And I really DO hope that Nerdfighters all over the world don't take this defeat too badly. With luck, we'll get those MIT guys' asses next time. 

PS: In case you guys were wondering, we came close, we had 9 out of 10 balloons when MIT sent in their submission and we found our tenth shortly after.

There Shouldn't Even Be A Title

Vulgar Post Ahead, Caution

Three years ago, on the first day of Form 1, a boy sitting behind me shyly starts asking me questions.

"Hey, what did Mdm. Rosdiana said? I don't really understand."

And I made it easier for him by translating everything to Chinese. It was the start of one of the best friendships of my life.

From then on, I knew I had to look out for him, explaining the mechanics of the school in Chinese as his English was really weak. I advised him against his naturally rash attitude and protected him from many punishments by stopping him before he did something bad.

But that doesn't mean he never did anything for me too. I had the impression he would give his arm in order to help me, and without him, I wouldn't have mustered up the courage to appeal for prefectship.

All that changed about a week ago, because of some effingly stupid circumstances, after almost 3 years of friendship, without a single disagreement, we got into a fight, and since then have not talked to each other.

Even today, as we played handball, and he didnt want to join in. After many pleadings from various classmates and he finally decided to join in. Every action, from the way he didn't even look at me to the way he purposely ignored me when i was open, screamed a simple message:

"Screw you, this alliance is temporary."

It eats me up inside.

How can such a close 3 year-friendship be broken with the most idiotic circumstances?

You know what? Fuck it.

If you don't wanna be friends, if you wanna throw everything we've done for each other down the drain, so be it.

Pleasantries aside, I'm sad to say I'm skipping church today cause I'm down with the flu. Damn you Malacca trip.

Speaking of which, I think I'm the only one who thought the trip was utter bull. Speaking from the various "good" blog posts I found and Facebook wall posts and pics.

And maybe people will argue that I didn't make the trip fun for myself. Well, screw them.

List Of Things That Made Malacca Idiotic:

1. 3P didn't have a bus, so we were slotted into the other 5 buses.

2. I terkena 3C, which speaks for itself.

3. Apart from being an unnecessarily noisy bus, they also insisted on watching an EFFING LOUD horror film, which made listening to iPods and Mp3's useless.

4. Owing to the fact that 190+ students came along, and that is WMS-style-disciplined-in-school-only Form 3 students, we moved along at a sluggish pace which was worsened by the fact that it started to rain.

5. Of course, it was raining. Why wouldn't it be when this trip was already destined to fail? At least to me.

6. We were delayed by a further half-hour moving from the restaurant to the church cause of the rain and finally decide to walk through the drizzle.

7. For some stupid, stupid, STUPID reason, I brought about my own downfall by attempting to herd the 3C bus students and get them from the restaurant to the church on time and safely. Don't ask me, I was temporarily mad. I'd like to say I did my job, but as you all know, I'm sick because of this.

8. People did stupid things in the church that I'd rather not talk about.

9. We missed out on the Ship Museum because it was too late. Talk about 10 bucks wasted.

10. Stopping at the tidbits shop, I realised I didn't bring extra money and watched in envy as my friends bought literally basket-fulls on stuff, mouth-watering STUFF!!!

11. I got to the bus and thats when I started falling sick.

12. The bus, being the 3C bus, was even more noisier on the way back, making sleep, listening to iPods and Mp3's, as well as even simple chatting impossible.

13. This being a bad list, it just HAD to reach the number 13! See?

So, all in all, my verdict is:

RM 60 wasted.

Ah yes, Yellowcard disbanded, as most of you probably know from Clar's blog. And since I'm the proud co-president of the I-Love-Yellowcard Fanclub (with an undefeated member count of 2) this post is dedicated to the one band, which had managed to fuse modern and traditional music together and get away with it.

I remember my first experience with Yellowcard, when Steph told a bewildered and disbelieving me that a band with a violin exists. That night, she almost sent me Only One, but had to cancel the transfer as we parted ways. It is almost tragic that I missed the song that would inspire my life by almost 2 years.

The word "Rocks" is overused, as observed by my aunt and uncle the other day.

Yeah. So, I'm just gonna say that it....

Day 1

Reached MBS (Malaysian Bible Seminary) at around 2.30 p.m. Somehow the other bus got lost, so we waited awhile for them before driving in.

After a short briefing, we were separated into groups and not surprisingly, my name was the on the last group, "Joy". They used cheesy names for the groups, and I'm under the impression that we were placed under the aspect that we lacked the most.

Example: Dylan - Peace, Susan - Self-Control, Sam Ng- Faithfulness.

Need I say more ;P

We headed to our dorm and ours was supposedly a former squash court. about 12 bunk beds were added and 20 boys were crammed in. Tuna fish style any1?

The icebreakers were fun, and we did the Guardian Angel thing. For those who don't know, go read Hannah's blog, as I expect her to write, in length, about all these.. XD

Praise and worship was.... meh.. but you really can't expect much from the chapel team, can you?

I mean, they played the same songs that I last heard during my last time at chapel 2 years ago. Where's the originality, people?!

Then the session started. Rev. Herbert D John, aka Mdm Herbert's husband, was the speaker. When he first walked in, I was like - "Okay, what is he... 50?"

Then he started talking.

The sheer energy of his messages is really quite unbelievable, and I'm pretty sure that most of us found that we didnt sleep during the course of his sermon, during the first night that is.. Lol..

After his sermon he started praying in tongues. I guess this scared the Form 2's cause the guys stayed back after that and asked him about the "weird language" he used. So he explained to our little group of curious guys about praying in tongues and all the other gifts of God.

Oh yeah, we had free time till 11, during which was SUPPOSED to be lights out time. Anyways, I tried cooking maggi cup in WARM water and the following conversation followed-

HZ- Yerrr, ITS NOT COOKING! WTF?!

Dylan- Are you sure the water is hot?

HZ- Erm, let me test... OWWWW!!! HOT HOT HOT!!! I BURNT MY FINGER!

Dylan- .... HEY! ITS SOFT!

HZ- But it's still in 1 piece... YERRRR! CAN FLIP OVER 1!!!!!

Dylan-....

HZ- Ok la, I eat only.

The Form 2 boys were also making so much noise that we couldn't sleep so I listened to my MP3 (Really loudly) and dosed off.

Day 2

So, we woke up at 6 and had Devotion at 7.

After breakfast, we headed off for our 2nd session with Rev.Herbert. He spoke on some battle in which chefs and poets fought because the real fighters were hiding somewhere.. or something of the sort. Anyways, before he ended, he asked those who wants to be prayed for to stay back, yeah so I stayed back along with 6 or 7 other people.

He then started prophesying our characters and giving us advice. Bare in mind that he doesnt even know us at this time, yet he managed to say the truth about us all. 1 by 1 he told us about what to do and what we will face when he finally came to me.

Let's just say he said some scary stuff that I may or may not talk about in later posts.

So after that we had some group activites (Butt walking) and games session (Captain Ball) in which we thrashed "Patience" and "Love" kao kao. XD

That night after dinner we were to reveal ourselves as our mortals' Guardian Angel. It turned out that my Guardian Angel was Huei Minn and yeah, my mortal (Chloe Soh) couldn't guess who her GA was.. I'm so pro.. XD

There was also an AWESOME sketch by the commitee and the song "This Is Your Life" was played.

Day 3

Despite Zhou Wei's ANNOYING "Check Yes Juliet" alarm, which he didnt turn off, or even snoozed for that matter, we still overslept.

Don't ask me how, as I do not know.

Anyways, I dragged myself outa bed just in time for Devotion. Luckily I got there in time cause Ms. Goh was our group teacher (Yes, I KNOW!). After answering the questions and a long talk with Ms. Goh about priorities in life, we ate breakfast and headed to the hall for our 3rd and last session with Rev. Herbert.

Every1 was kinda tired so praise and worship was worse than usual. Ethan Ong even dosed off during the sermon. And then we stood and sang "Hosannah" for about 20,000 times (to put it in Sam Ng's terms).

1 point of interest however, was the Banana Dance.

You know, the "SHAKE BANANA, SHAKE SHAKE BANANA" thing?

No?

Well too bad.

Ms.Goh did it.

Yes, your eyes arent deceiving you.. Our vice-principle Ms Goh Ka Lian, did the Banana Dance.

I have still trouble believing it myself.. XD

Anyways, we went back to KL after packing up... You can't imagine the dissappointment of coming into school and knowing that you'll be there the next day..

Ok prefects listen up, the following is an excerpt of Prefectorial Files No.198A, written in the point of view of Agent 318, on the event logged under: " Prefect's Internal Camp, 2009". this document is classified and prefects are advised to use their own DISCRETION in handling this file.

" Ok, Day 1!

We started by splitting into groups, mine was Step Up. Yes, the groups are named after movies and we had to find our group members by acting out scenes of the movie, so since I never saw Step Up in my life *I'm gonna get flamed for this arent i?*, I went around looking for people who looks as if they're dancing. Finally I got attracted by V Vern dancing the Saturday Night Fever.. XD

Yeah, so after that we pitched our tents on the bball court and had our dinner. V Vern and I decided not to shower then, bad choice XD.. Anyways... We then headed abck up to take our school rules tests, which turned out to be 8-10 questions.. Rules 1.1,1.13,1.4 bla bla bla.. If they are prepared to fire us based on that test, they better be ready to control the school with a handful of nerds.

We also had spot check simulation after that. Lol, Melvyn thought I was shy and blur.. I wonder if he saw that I was the one who thought of checking the curtains and air-conditioners for hidden contraband.. Blekz.. But we did manage to find 10 out of the 13 items in the room, so whoopee...

That night, we played Lower Sec VS Upper Sec bball, without counting out of bounds rule. So I actually dribbled all the way to the other court and wanted to make a long pass to Kai Yuan, but swish went the basket.. Wtc wei... Melvyn kept calling it the " fluke of the day."

We were kept awake in our tents by the sounds of people talking loudly on the podium. Damn irritating... When I finally gotten to sleep, Qin Xian just happened to yell outside of our tent.. Zzz...

Again, when everything settled down by 3.30 a.m,

SOMEONE UP THERE DECIDED TO PEE!

Yup, it started raining, really heavily. So we were forced to abandon our tents in the corridors and we headed to the classroom instead. Bear in mind that it was already 4.00 a.m.

Day 2..

Woke up at 5.30 to get ready for Morning Devotion. So it means that i got roughly 2 hours of sleep the night before.. Awesome.. We also had morning exercise after that, I don't really wanna go into details tho.. Then came the simulations.

First off, we had the Screening simulation, it so lmao funny. The board members were wreaking absolute havoc on us by "acting" the part of ridiculously insensible troublemaking students. Grace had on DOUBLE BLUE ear rings, I still don't know how i missed that.. All girls were caught for hair, Melvyn wore branded socks and gelled his hair.

But the funniest was still Russel! When told to pull up his socks, he SAT DOWN on the assembly ground and stuck his foot up in the air to pull it up. We all couldn't stop laughing. Jin Wai then told him off really really badly, scaring both Russel and Mr.Naresh. XD

Next off we had a mock-up of the block-clearing and canteen duty part of lunch. Several board members were hiding in the classes and we had to bring them down for assembly. I found Russel wedged between 2 tables in the Set Teaching Room of 2W. He told us later in the evaluation that it was the worst 15 minutes of his life waiting to be found in that position when it was another group's turn to do it.

Finally, we had the counseling session. COUNSELING!

The 9 board members were acting as 9 "troubled" kids. Our jobs are to have a one-on-one counseling session to try and solve that problem. Each session lasts 10 minutes. Here are the character names and some description of some board members:

Ok, finally got around writing this post..

Left K.L at 6.30 a.m, nothing much to do in the plane, as it was freaking AirAsia, and you know how it is with them with their " we're the cheapest so we're forcing you to buy our food at freakishly high prices instead, and oh yeah, NO OUTSIDE FOOD ALOWED!!!"..

*Rant over*

Anyways... I sat with Hao Yi and Wilson, only the most ridiculously funny (not to mention classic cantonese-humourous) guy in the plane.. He stole my *makes baby face and clap hands while making baby noises* bit and got some weid stares from some foreiners..

Ok, fast forwarding memory bank to the part where we land...

Oh yeah! We landed in Macao, which I would explain more in detail while talking about the last day. We immediately got a cab and went to the border then.

I had to be seperated from the rest of my family as it was only a 4 seater cab, what kind of policy is that?!

Anyways, we got thr and crossed the border (passport, customs, baggage check, passport again...) And now we're in CHINA!!! Woot..

Checked into the hotel ( which was just opposite the border..), and then on with the tour...

We went to (in no specific order): Lunch, the "famous" statue of a lady holding a giant pearl, up a cable car( wait, no, it was a cable-BENCH) to a mountain to catch a nice view, a mock-up temple for a show, and dinner.. Wait, that was in a specific order... Lol..

That night, Hao Yi, Wilson, Yong Jie, Yong Yi and I went out to "hang-kai" around the hotel, we saw alot of cool stuff like chinese roti canai and fake brands (Adibas lol)..

Then IT happened..

Gasp.

We went to a supermarket to get some mineral water for my dad (it costed RM.4.50 for a litre of H2O thr!!!) and my bro decided to bring his half-eaten pack of potato chips in thr, he idiotically hidden the potato chips in his coat, which attracted the attention of the cashier.

She scolded him and accused him, my brother, the sibling of the most honest and honorable guy on Earth( not to mention good-looking), ahem..., FOR STEALING!!!

She yelled something, most probably for help, but nobody cared to answer her, so she just scanned the pack of chips and immediately know its not theirs, so she "let us go".. I don't know why she didn't do that earlier. Maybe she derives some sort of pleasure from making little( did i mention good-looking?) kids squirm and afraid.

Meh..

So, we headed off the McDonalds (the only one in Zhu Hai which was a FREAKING LONG WALK from our hotel.) Unfortunately for some reason, no POK... Lol, so I got a "Spicy Barbequed Chicken Burger" which was kinda like our Spicy Chicken McDeluxe.. Yong Jie bought a "Shaky Shaky Chicken" Don't ask me, I didn't come up with the names..

After that we went back to our hotel. We met up in Xerxes's room and watched him write in his "diary" while listening to emo music. (Cause he only writes about emo stuff, I think.. I didn't look.. I SWEAR!!!)

Ok! Day 1 over! We will be back next time with more "Lenix's Log on the Krazy Hong Kong Trip"..

Going to Hong Kong this Friday... Flight's at 6 a.m, so probably leaving around 2 a.m.. That being said, this is probably going to be the last post here for awhile.. ( Not counting the one I MAY write about the Hong Kong trip, depending on the demand.)

My parents ( and me..) most probably would want me to concentrate on my school work and focus on my PMR year.. Haiz.. So no more computer after Hong Kong i guess..

OMG, I FINALLY DID IT!!!

After 3 days and 4 hours of trying to learn how to solve a Rubik's Cube, I finally did it!!! It's official, at exactly 8.10 p.m, Tuesday, 4-10-2008, Lenix Kok Hao Zhe had solved the Rubik's Cube for the first time!!!

Here's a picture for proof, although I'm sure there will be some idiots who will say that I got someone else to do it, and that I stole his/her credit, bla bla bla... Well, screw those ppl...

Thanks to Jia Sheng, for starting the craze and also giving me some helpful tips, Wen Chuan, for buying my first cube, Melvyn, for teaching me a faster way to get my first cross, Dylan, for teaching me most of everything, and also LethalScorpion, for making his detailed and user-friendly guide to solving the cube on youtube.
